Domestic abuse and what laws are there?

U hear of people dating and falling in love,sometimes even getting married and having kids.then the person they drains their bank account,takes all their pride,and completely destroys their life.Why isnt there a law against such people who do this?They should be penalizied for it and their actions be treated as a misdemeanor so that other people could look it up on their background info.it might save men and women ALOT of heartache!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or are there such laws I dont know about.and if so please send them to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been a victom of emotion and verbal abuse.why cant he be charged and have to pay me for the emotinal distress,financail burden,embrment my family,my kids and myself endured?
