Can a person that has been guillotined "live" long enough to know that his head is not on his boddy.

It's possible in theory that consciousness could linger for a few seconds before loss of blood and oxygen causes brain death, but most doctors believe that the shock of the decapitation would cause immediate unconsciousness. However, as I said, there is a very slight chance that the victim might be aware for a few seconds.
