Question Regarding Watergate??? History Buffs, Please Help!!?

The "one million dollars" came up during the play-back of the White House tapes. Someone, maybe John Dean, said that the Watergate breaker-inners wanted $1 million to keep quiet. Nixon replied that that would not be a problem. Later, Nixon said that what he meant was that it would not be a problem, "But it would be wrong."
